Hey, thanks, that sounds quite plausible. Yes, my Leon now has 145678 km on the clock. Last service was about a year ago. Maybe I really need to have the EGR valve checked.

Well, your Leon has already done a lot of damage! With the mileage, such problems can certainly occur. Similar to my Ibiza, the EGR valve was the problem with a colleague of mine. He had similar symptoms to yours: strong exhaust odors, rough running and loss of power. Since replacing the valve, his car has been running perfectly again. In any case, it wouldn't hurt to have it checked at the garage. And your last service was a year ago - maybe it's time to have another one done. Because it's super important to keep an eye on your diesel! Good luck with that, buddy!

Hey, thanks for the advice! Great that you're sharing your experience. Really helpful. You're right, I think it's time to get it serviced again and have the EGR valve checked. Really, thank you very much! I'll make an appointment at the garage then. Hopefully it's just the valve and nothing more serious. Thanks again, buddy!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Seat Ibiza (diesel, year of manufacture 2010). I'm not a car professional, but I do have some experience. At my garage, they found the defective EGR valve that was stuck. That explained everything: the engine light, the loss of power and the strong exhaust smell. They replaced it and the problem was solved. I paid 355 euros for it. Maybe you could tell us a bit more about your car? Mileage? Maintenance history? That might help narrow down the problem better. Hope this helps you!
