Seat Leon gearbox issues

Thanks for your quick reply. The shifting issue does not depend on the engine temperature, the problems occur constantly and the diagnostic device shows error code P17BF. Could it also be a mechanical problem in the transmission, or is this more likely an automotive electronics issue?

P17BF, eh? That's the kicker. Yeah, while anything mechanical could technically be the culprit, that code screams 'control unit'. Given all the symptoms, and the fact that it's all happening at once, a flaky TCU (Transmission Control Unit) is odds-on favorite. It's the brain of your gearbox basically. Best to get it checked out professionally, but I would bet on the TCU being toast.

Understood. I appreciate the insight. I will consult a workshop to address the defective control unit. It seems to be the only reasonable solution. Thanks for your guidance.

Whoa, sounds like a proper electronic gremlin! Gear selection display going AWOL along with shifting issues? That ain't your average sensor problem. Slipping, grinding…oof! Question: does it happen more when the engine's cold, or is it consistent? And have you scanned for any specific fault codes beyond the generic 'error stored'?
