Seat Leon Hybrid Issues Fuel Consumption and Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Seat Leon hybrid is experiencing high fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. The initial suspicion is a defective mass air flow sensor. A suggestion is made to check the air filter, as a dirty filter can affect the sensor and air-fuel ratio. After diagnosis at a workshop, the mass air flow sensor is confirmed as the issue, leading to its replacement and resolution of the stalling problem.

When you say similar problem, did you also experience the smoke on acceleration and the check engine light? I'm not very technical, so where is the air filter located, and how would I know if the mass air flow is defective? I'm worried about getting ripped off.

Yes, I had the check engine light too, but I didn't notice smoke. The air filter is usually in a box under the hood. But with all your symptoms, especially the stalling and smoke, it sounds like the mass air flow sensor. I'd take it to a trusted workshop to get it diagnosed properly. They can check the sensor readings and confirm if it's defective.

Just a heads up, the workshop confirmed it was the mass air flow sensor. The bill came to 365€, but the engine isn't stalling anymore, and hopefully, my fuel economy will improve. Thanks again for the advice.

I had a similar problem with my Leon. I noticed my fuel economy was poor, and the engine would occasionally stall. Have you checked your air filter recently? A dirty filter can sometimes mess with the mass air flow sensor and the air-fuel ratio. It's a cheap thing to check before an expensive repair.
