Seat Leon Immobilizer Problem

My 2015 Seat Leon with a diesel engine is exhibiting an immobilizer problem. The engine either doesn't start, or it starts briefly and then cuts out. There's an error stored, which I suspect relates to the immobilizer. I'm leaning towards a key programming issue. Could incorrect programming be the culprit, or is an immobilizer bypass needed?

Sounds like an immobilizer issue. Does the error memory specify anything about the anti-theft system? Have you tried your spare key, if you have one?

The error code points towards a general immobilizer fault. I have a spare key; is it likely to make a difference? Could it be a fault with the remote start system?

Using the spare key will help determine if the transponder chip in your primary key is faulty. If the spare works, then key programming is your issue. If not, the issue is with the immobilizer itself. Remote start systems can sometimes interfere, but it's unlikely. Get it checked at a workshop for key programming.

The problem was key programming. The ignition control module didn't recognize the key. Key re-programming at the workshop, costing 45€, resolved the immobilizer problem. The anti-theft system is working now. Thanks for the suggestion.
