Seat Mii Automatic Transmission Problems

Okay, so I'm freaking out a bit here. My Seat Mii (2013 model, gasoline engine) is giving me serious grief. It's got 130876 km on it. Basically, the automatic transmission seems totally messed up in the parking position. The engine won't start sometimes, and the check engine light is on constantly. Plus, the gearbox is slipping like crazy, and shifts are super unclean. I scanned it, and there's an error stored about the transmission. The shop thinks the control unit is bad and wants 1000€ to fix it! Has anyone dealt with something like this? Could it be something else, like the shift lock or something? Transmission issues are the worst!

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Seat Mii with 130,876 km is experiencing automatic transmission issues, including failure to start, a persistent check engine light, and erratic shifting. The problem is suspected to be a faulty transmission control unit, with a repair estimate of 1000€. A similar case suggested checking for transmission-related error codes, which confirmed the control unit as the issue. The replacement of the control unit resolved the problem.

I have a Seat Mii as well, and what you are describing sounds very familiar. I experienced something similar with my automatic transmission. The symptoms were almost identical: engine light, rough shifting, and it sometimes wouldn't even start. It could be a faulty transmission sensor. When this happened to me, the car was acting like a stubborn mule, refusing to cooperate. Check your error memory. See if any transmission-related codes pop up. It might give you a better idea of what's going on.

Transmission sensor, huh? Where is that located? And how did you figure out it was the sensor? Was it just the error code, or did you do some other kind of check? Any extra info would be great, because I am no expert, and I am already stressed.

Alright, it sounds like you're in a similar boat as I was. I didn't figure it out myself; a workshop diagnosed it. It was indeed the transmission control unit that was defective. Considering the symptoms and the error code you're seeing, and given the potential cost quoted to you, I strongly recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic. The automatic transmission in these cars can be quite sensitive, and it's best left to professionals to avoid further damage.

Just a note The Mii went to the shop, and you were right. It was the transmission control unit. They replaced it, costing around 1000€! But it's finally fixed. Thanks so much for your help, seriously saved me a lot of stress!
