Seat Mii Camshaft Sensor Issue

I am experiencing issues with my 2014 Seat Mii, gasoline engine. The engine starts poorly, and power is reduced. The error memory indicates a defective camshaft sensor. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the cause of these symptoms?

A defective camshaft position sensor can certainly cause those symptoms. Rough idling and reduced engine power are common indicators, along with the error code. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and connections for any obvious damage or corrosion? Is the sensor itself properly seated?

Thank you for your response. Where exactly is the camshaft position sensor located? And how can I check the cable and plug connection for defects?

The camshaft position sensor is typically located near the camshaft, often on the cylinder head. Locating the sensor requires specific knowledge of your engine configuration. Visual inspection of the cable and plug connection for corrosion or damage is possible. However, diagnosing intermittent sensor failure without specialized tools can be challenging. Given the stored error code and symptoms, would it be wise to consult a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair?

I appreciate the detailed information. The workshop confirmed the camshaft position sensor was faulty. The cable and plug were indeed defective. The repair cost 95€. Thank you for your help.
