Seat Tarraco engine troubles

I am officially pulling my hair out My 2021 Seat Tarraco with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. It's got 103053 km on it. The check engine light is on, it starts poorly, and it keeps stalling when idling. I think it's a camshaft sensor defective, but I'm not sure. Anyone else experienced this sensor failure

I had a similar issue with my Tarraco. Same symptoms: rough start, stalling at idle, and that annoying check engine light. It could be the crankshaft sensor too, which works with the camshaft sensor to manage ignition timing. Have you tried any sensor testing

Crankshaft sensor, huh Interesting. I was only focusing on the camshaft sensor since the error code pointed to that. How would the crankshaft sensor cause similar problems What kind of sensor testing are you talking about

Well, both sensors work together to tell the engine control unit (ECU) the exact position of the crankshaft and camshaft. This is crucial for proper ignition timing and fuel injection. If either sensor is off, it can cause engine misfire and stalling. As for sensor testing, a mechanic can use an oscilloscope to check the signal from the sensors. But honestly, with those symptoms, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on It was indeed the camshaft sensor. They said the encoder wheel on the camshafts was defective, which caused the sensor failure. Cost me 695€, but at least it's fixed now. Thanks again for your help
