Good point about the plug connection. Where exactly is the humidity sensor plug located? And when you mentioned sensor calibration, does that require special tools, or is it something I can do myself? I'd like to avoid the 95€ repair cost if it's just a minor thing.

The plug is usually directly on the sensor, which is mounted near the rearview mirror, on the windshield. As for sensor calibration, it typically requires diagnostic software. You might be able to find aftermarket tools that can do it, but I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. If it's a connection issue, it's a quick fix, but messing with the climate control system without the right tools can cause further problems.

Thanks for the insights. Just got it back from the shop. Turns out it was a defective connection on the fog sensor, just like you suspected. They cleaned the contacts and did a sensor calibration. Air conditioning is working now and the error is gone. Visibility is back to normal!

Sounds like a faulty fog sensor. I had similar issues on my BMW (different engine, of course) where the climate control wouldn't kick in and the mirror heating was intermittent. Does the error code point specifically to the humidity sensor or is it a more general climate control fault? Also, have you checked the sensor's plug connection for corrosion or loose wires? It's located near the base of the windshield usually.
