Seat Tarraco Hybrid Fuel Gauge Problems

I'm at my wit's end with my Seat Tarraco Hybrid. The fuel gauge is acting completely bonkers. The check engine light is on, and the engine keeps stalling at idle. I've scanned the error memory, and it shows a fuel level sensor fault. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could it be something simple like a fuse before I take it to the workshop?

Summary of the thread

The Seat Tarraco Hybrid is experiencing issues with the fuel gauge, a check engine light, and engine stalling at idle. The error memory indicates a fuel level sensor fault, which could be the root cause. A similar problem was resolved by replacing a faulty sensor, but in this case, the issue was fixed by replacing a defective fuse. The solution was straightforward and inexpensive, resolving the fuel gauge problem effectively.

That sounds concerning! I own a Seat Tarraco, though I have the petrol version. I experienced a similar problem with the car dashboard readings a few months back. My fuel gauge was all over the place, and the check engine light illuminated. Does the car dashboard display also show incorrect information about the remaining range? For me, it turned out to be a faulty sensor related to the fuel tank. Have you checked the car electronics for any error codes?

Interesting. So, it was the fuel level sensor itself? And did you also experience the engine stalling issue? I'm trying to understand if the stalling is directly related to the fuel gauge problem or if it could be something else entirely.

Yes, in my case, it was indeed the fuel level sensor within the fuel tank that was the culprit. While my engine didn't stall completely, it did run rather rough at times, especially at lower speeds. Given that you have the error code pointing to the sensor and are experiencing stalling, it's highly likely the sensor is the primary issue. I would suggest taking it to a trusted workshop. They should be able to diagnose it properly and replace the sensor if needed.

I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective fuse. They replaced it, and the fuel gauge is now working perfectly. Total cost was 52€. I'm relieved it wasn't a more serious issue with the fuel system.
