Seat Tarraco Mixture Preparation Error

I'm at my wit's end with my 2019 Seat Tarraco with a gasoline engine! It's got 182311 km on the clock, and I'm experiencing a mixture preparation error. The check engine light is on, the engine's running rough, I'm getting jerking when accelerating, and it even stalls at idle sometimes. I suspect a defective injection valve or injector. I've cleaned the mass airflow sensor and throttle body, but no improvement. Could it be a rich mixture problem?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Seat Tarraco with 182,311 km is experiencing a mixture preparation error, causing the check engine light to illuminate, rough engine running, jerking during acceleration, and stalling at idle. The initial suspicion was a defective injection valve or injector, despite cleaning the mass airflow sensor and throttle body. After considering potential causes like a rich mixture and intake manifold leaks, the issue was resolved by replacing faulty injectors, leading to smooth engine performance and the check engine light turning off.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds frustrating! I had a somewhat similar issue with my Tarraco, though my mileage wasn't quite as high. The check engine light illuminated, and the engine ran rough, especially at idle. Did you check the intake manifold for any leaks?

Interesting. I haven't checked the intake manifold specifically. When you had the rough idle, did you also experience any jerking during acceleration or stalling? And was the error also related to mixture preparation?

Yes, my issue also involved jerking and occasional stalling. The error code pointed to a rich mixture, which led the mechanic to suspect the injectors. Given your symptoms and the mileage, I'd recommend getting the injectors professionally checked. It's likely the culprit. Could save you a lot of diagnostic headache.

As suspected, it was a faulty injector. I had all four replaced, along with the necessary seals and gaskets. The car is running smoothly again, and the check engine light is off. Total cost came to 515€. Thanks for your input; it definitely pointed me in the right direction!
