Seat Toledo Automatic Transmission Problems

I'm experiencing some concerning issues with my 2018 Seat Toledo, diesel engine, with 117651 km on the clock. The check engine light and transmission indicator light are both illuminated. The gearbox slips and shifts rather uncleanly, accompanied by grinding noises during gear changes. Furthermore, there's an error stored in the error memory. From my research, it seems like the automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch might be defective. Could this be the cause, or is there something else I should consider?

Sounds like a converter fault. I had similar symptoms with my Toledo: engine surge, unclean shifts, and eventually the transmission light. Did you check the transmission fluid level?

Thanks for the quick reply. I did check the fluid level, and it seemed fine, although I didn't get it tested in a lab or anything. When you say 'similar symptoms', did you also experience the grinding noises and the error codes? Was it definitely the lock-up clutch?

Yes, the grinding noise and error codes were present in my case too. It was definitely a converter fault related to the lock-up clutch in the automatic gearbox. If the fluid level is okay, I'd advise taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. It's likely a converter replacement.

The workshop confirmed a converter fault. The automatic gearbox converter was defective, and after replacement, the issues disappeared. It cost 2120€, a hefty price, but at least my Seat Toledo is running smoothly again. Thanks for the advice; it helped me prepare for the diagnosis.
