Seat Toledo Diesel Glow Plug Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Seat Toledo with a diesel engine has a persistent preheating lamp issue, indicating a potential glow plug problem. The error code suggests that one or more glow plugs may be defective, causing the check engine light to activate. The rough engine start during cold conditions further supports this diagnosis. Replacing the faulty glow plugs resolved the issue.

Yeah, the engine does seem a bit rough on startup when it's cold. How did you resolve your issue? Did you end up replacing all the glow plugs?

Yes, the cold start issue is a telltale sign of faulty glow plugs in a diesel car. The ECU probably detects the failure and throws the check engine light. Given the symptoms and error code, a defective glow plug is the most likely cause. I would recommend taking your car to a workshop to have the glow plugs checked and replaced.

Took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on. Glow plugs were indeed the culprit. It cost me 440€, parts and labor. Thanks for the help!

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Toledo a while back. Preheating lamp acting up and an error code pointing to the glow plugs. Did you notice any engine misfire, especially during cold start?
