Seat Toledo fuel flap issue

I'm at my wit's end with my 2002 Seat Toledo, gasoline engine, with 115118 km on the clock. The fuel flap release has stopped working entirely. I get an error stored in the error memory, and I can no longer lock or unlock the fuel filler flap. To make matters worse, some other functions of the car seem to be unavailable now. I suspect it might be a defective linkage, if there even is one. Has anyone experienced something similar? The release button does nothing, and neither does the key fob. Is there anything I can try before I take it to a mechanic?

Yes, the release button inside the car was completely dead, just like you're describing. I didn't have other electrical issues at the time, only the fuel flap. Given that you have other systems acting up, it does sound a bit more complicated. I tried a few things myself, but in the end, I had to take it to a workshop. They replaced some part of the locking mechanism, I think. Honestly, save yourself the headache and get it checked out by a professional. It's probably not something you can easily fix yourself.

Took it to the workshop, and you were right. They said it was a defective linkage. 210€ later, the fuel flap now opens perfectly, and the error is gone. Thanks for your help!
