Seat Toledo mixture preparation error

My 2007 Seat Toledo, gasoline engine, is exhibiting a mixture preparation error. The symptoms are reduced engine power, the check engine light is on, rough engine running, jerking during acceleration, and the engine even stalls at idle sometimes. I have inspected the intake manifold for leaks but found none. Could a defective injection valve or injector be the culprit?

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my old Renault Megane. Check engine light, the works. Have you checked your oxygen sensor or considered a potential issue with the mass airflow sensor? It could be messing with your air-fuel ratio.

Thanks for your quick reply! I appreciate it. Did your Renault also stall at idle and jerk when accelerating? And were there any issues with the catalytic converter due to the bad mixture?

Yep, stalling and jerking were definitely part of the fun. Never had cat issues, but I caught it relatively early. A faulty MAF sensor was the core of the problem. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd say get it to a workshop. They can run proper diagnostics.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like my issue is indeed similar. I took your advice and brought the car to a workshop, and after inspection they confirmed that the injection valves were defective. The repair, including new valves and labor, came out to 515€. Hopefully, this finally resolves the mixture preparation error!
