Sedici EGR Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Fiat Sedici diesel exhibited reduced engine power, check engine light, smoke on acceleration, rough running, increased fuel consumption, jerking, and a loud hissing sound. These symptoms suggested a defective EGR valve, which was confirmed after consulting a workshop. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty EGR valve, costing 355€.

Regarding the vacuum leaks, where specifically should I be focusing my attention? Are there any common points of failure in the Sedici's EGR system that I should prioritize?

In my case, the hissing sound was a telltale sign of a ruptured vacuum hose near the EGR valve itself. Given the complexity and potential for further complications, I would suggest taking it to a workshop for proper diagnostics.

I followed your advice and consulted a workshop. Indeed, the EGR valve was defective, and the total repair cost was 355€. Your insights proved invaluable in guiding me towards the correct diagnosis and resolution. Thanks again.

I own a Sedici, though I don't recall the year. Your symptoms sound eerily familiar to an issue I had. Have you checked for any vacuum leaks in the EGR system? A faulty valve could certainly cause those problems, but a leak can mimic those symptoms as well.
