Thanks! I think the overheating started just before the check engine light came on, maybe a day or two. I'm wondering if it's something I can fix myself, or if it definitely needs a professional.

Yeah, that sounds exactly like what happened with mine. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much. I ended up taking mine to a workshop; they said it was definitely the electromechanism, a pretty common issue apparently. Better to be safe than sorry!

Okay, appreciate the advice. Sounds like a trip to the shop is inevitable. Thanks for confirming it's likely the same issue you had. I'll post a resolution once it's sorted. Looks like I am in for around 590€.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Sedici. Is it possibly the flap motor or grille shutter causing problems? Was the car overheating before the check engine light, or did they both start happening at the same time?
