Sedici power steering vibration

My 2008 Fiat Sedici diesel is having a weird power steering issue at 153730 km. The steering wheel vibrates and shakes, and the handling feels spongy. There's an error stored, and it's harder to steer, like the power steering is failing sometimes. I think it could be a bad cable or plug. Anyone seen this? Hydraulic fluid is okay.

It was a faulty connection for me. But honestly, with those symptoms, a workshop visit might be smart. There could be other issues with the steering system causing the connection to fail.
