Seeking Advice for Non-Functioning Cruise Control in 2019 Seat Tarraco

Hey gearheads, got a bit of a conundrum here. I've got a 2019 Seat Tarraco with a gasoline engine, clocked about 166,513 km so far. I've started to notice that my cruise control isn't working anymore and I've got a stored fault. Last time I went to the mechanic, it didn't go very well, so I'm kinda hesitant on taking it back without some knowledge buffer. Has anyone else dealt with this before? Could you share your experiences and how you fixed it, either done by yourself or through the local shop? Any insight would be super appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey! I've recently faced a similar issue on my 2016 Seat Ateca. It turned out my cruise control issue was due to a defective cable connection. After several DIY attempts, I finally dragged myself to the garage. The mechanic mentioned that this isn't something very unusual. Apparently, as the car ages, the wear and tear affect connections alike. He spent a decent amount of time doing a comprehensive check to ensure no other systems were impacted due to the defective cable. Post that, he fixed it up by replacing the faulty cable and cleaning up the connections. Needed a bit of reprogramming as well before my cruise control was back to operational. It wasn't any major issue, but something you shouldn't ignore either. A bad connection can eventually lead to hampering more systems. However, don't freak out, it's not like the entire car is falling apart. Learn from my experience, nip it in the bud. It's better to get it looked at and fixed by someone who knows their stuff. Hope that helps!

Hey there, thanks for the detailed reply, appreciate it! Funny enough, I'd never have guessed it could be something as simple as a cable connection causing all this fuss. I'm relieved it's not a major issue, but still, it's not something to ignore. It's good to know your Ateca is back on the road without an issue. Just a quick one though, do you remember roughly how much you ended up forking out for the repair job? And has anything else cropped up since you got it fixed? Cheers!

Hey again! I feel you, who would have thought a little cable connection could mess things up, right? Anyway, for the repair job, it set me back by around 95€, which is pretty reasonable if you ask me. This included fixing the defective cable connection which got my cruise control up and running again. Oh, and to answer your other question - since the mechanic had a look, no other issue has popped up! My Ateca is cruising just fine. It seems like tackling the issue in time saved me from any other trouble. So, I'd say don't sweat it too much but don't delay either. Cheers!

Hey, thanks again for the quick response. It's great to hear that your Ateca is running smoothly and you've not encountered any more hitches since the repair. 95€ for the job seems fair, especially if it's helped dodge any further issues down the road. I'll use your experiences as my guide and take my Tarraco to the mechanic without any more delay. Cheers! You’ve been a load of help!
