Seeking Advice on 2014 Dacia Sandero Gear Selection Display Issues and Possible Clutch Pedal Switch Malfunction

Hey! I need some help with my 2014 Dacia Sandero, petrol engine version. I've been noticing some weird gear selection display issues on the speedometer, and even a warning light popped up. I'm suspecting a clutch pedal switch malfunction, but not entirely sure. Has anyone out there experienced something similar and got it fixed later? Would appreciate some advice on troubleshooting this and any workshop experiences you might have had. Cheers!

Hey there! I've got some troubleshooting experience thanks to similar issues I faced with my 2012 Dacia Logan, which shares a lot of similar parts with your Sandero. I'm not exactly an expert, but I've dealt with this issue. Just like you, I had an intermittent gear selection display issue, and a warning light popped up out of nowhere! It turned out that the cable connection/plug to the clutch switch was defective. I ended up taking it to a local workshop - they had a decent reputation, so I felt like I could trust their diagnosis. They found the fault with their diagnostic scanning tool, ordered a replacement part and within a few hours had it replaced and functional again - costed me about 95€. You might want to double-check this as well. Speaking of which, can you share what type of transmission system you have? Manual or automatic? Any relevant vehicle details would help advise you better. Good luck with that!

Hey! Thanks a ton for the great information. My Sandero has a manual transmission. Just racking up 38029 KM on it, and always timely serviced, the last was just a couple of months ago. Taking your advice, I'll get the cable connection/plug to the clutch switch checked. Now, fingers crossed that I'll be able to sort this out sooner with that nearby workshop. Appreciate your help. Stay safe!

Hey! No worries at all. I'm happy to help a fellow Dacia owner. Your symptoms sound very familiar to what I experienced. Since you've got a manual transmission just like mine, it’s increasing the chances that your gear selection display issues might be caused by a faulty clutch switch or even its connection/plug. Those pesky little things can cause quite a pinch, eh? I would still recommend getting a full diagnosis to be sure before replacing anything, just to avoid unnecessary expenses. And considering your mileage and the regular service, I'm hopeful it would be a minor issue. Keep us updated about your progress and if there's anything more you'd need. Here's to hoping your local workshop can sort you out like mine did. Cheers and safe driving!

Hey again! Your advice and support mean a lot to me. I totally agree, a full diagnosis is definitely worth it to avoid unnecessary spending. I'll make sure to ring up the workshop tomorrow and get my Sandero checked. Can't really afford any guessing games with these car parts, right? Your shared experiences gave me a good head start on what to expect and who to approach. Will definitely keep you posted about the developments. Thanks once again. Take care and happy motoring! Cheers!
