Hi! Thanks for the response and the helpful info. It's somewhat of a relief that it's not just me having this issue. I haven't noticed any other symptoms besides the ones I initially mentioned. For the error message, the only one constantly popping up is a malfunction indicator lamp. My V90 just passed the 35010 KM mark, if that helps. I've booked an appointment with my local workshop already. Let's see how that goes. Thanks again for your help! Best,

Hey, No worries at all! Yeah, it's always a bit comforting when you find out you're not the only one experiencing a specific problem. That malfunction indicator lamp popping up aligns with a lambda sensor issue - it's essentially your car telling you that there's something wrong with the engine's performance. Given your V90's mileage and the symptoms, it does sound like the lambda sensor is the likely culprit. But, of course, a professional diagnostic in the workshop will give you the definite answer. The workaround and cost should be similar to what I experienced, but keep in mind prices vary based on location and individual workshops. Expect improvements in fuel economy and engine performance once sorted. Do keep us updated on how it goes. Wishing you a smooth repair journey! Cheers!

Hey, Sure thing! I'll keep you posted on the progress at the workshop. Fingers crossed it's just the lambda sensor. Cheers for the advice and the support, it's certainly made this process less daunting. Catch you later!

Hi there, Well, it just so happens, I experienced a very similar problem with my 2018 Volvo XC90 Diesel, I am by no means an expert, but I've dealt with a couple of car issues. So, I can offer a bit of insight. Black smoke during acceleration, poor gas mileage, power loss, and the check engine light, all point out to a lambda sensor heater defect, just like in your case. I took my car to the local workshop, and they handled it brilliantly. The fault code indeed indicated that the lambda sensor heater was defective. They replaced the sensor and ran some tests to make sure everything was not misfiring. It set me back by around 375 Euro, but it sorted the problem out. Since I'm not entirely sure if my case perfectly fits with yours, do you mind me asking whether there are any other symptoms? What model is your car? Are there any error messages displayed? This will enable me to further assist you. Cheers,
