Seeking Advice on 2021 Lexus UX Hybrid Starting Issues Related to Engine Control Unit Main Relay

Hey all, I've got a bit of a headache with my 2021 Lexus UX Hybrid. It just won't start! I'm suspecting a glitch with the engine control unit main relay. Anyone ever faced this before? I'd love to know your diagnostic and repair experiences from your workshop. Cheers!

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Lexus UX Hybrid is experiencing starting issues, suspected to be related to the engine control unit main relay. The car initially struggled to start, particularly in the mornings, before failing completely. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the main relay, which is suggested as a potential solution. The next step is to have the relay checked and possibly replaced at a local workshop.

Hey! I feel that pain. I reckon I had a similar hassle with my 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid a while back. As a car enthusiast with some experience, I'm not a pro but I do get around, ya know? Turned out, as you suspected, my problem was due to a defective main relay too. Went down to my local workshop and got it replaced. Set me back by 120 Euro, not too shabby, right? Did you take note of any unique symptoms before your UX gave up the ghost? It could assist in pinpointing the exact issue. Hang in there, you'll get your baby up and running in no time!

Hey there! Thanks for the moral boost, really needed that. Before the rattletrap went silent, it would first struggle to get going, especially in the morning. After a while, it couldn't muster the strength. Just clocked 48440 KM on it and had the latest service not long ago. That's the puzzling part, everything was dandy but suddenly it all went sideways. Your 120 Euro experience sounds quite alright, hopefully, won't be more than that. Guess my next stop is the local workshop then. Crossing my fingers they solve this easily. Thanks again for the suggestions!

Hey again! No worries, we're all in this car-lovin' community together, aren't we? Considering what you've just shared about the car struggling to start and then not starting at all, it does sound like a classic case of a faulty main relay. Mine showed pretty much the same symptoms. You might be on to something there. These cars are solid and yours still has fair bit of miles on it. A relay issue doesn't sound too far fetched. Those things can just conk out of the blue, even with recent service and all. Get that relay checked ASAP and let's hope it's no more expensive than it was for me. Fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted, yeah?

You're bang on about us sticking together in this car world, makes it a lot easier to navigate around! By the sounds of it, I've really got to take your advice into account and get that main relay sorted. Seems like it's the top suspect now. Thanks a bunch for the crucial input, really helpful! Off I go then to have it checked, and fingers crossed indeed it's not too costly. I'll definitely keep the thread updated with the latest. Take care and cheers!
