Seeking Advice on 2024 Seat Tarraco's Weak Battery and Troublesome Lighting

Hey, I've got a bit of a situation with my 2024 Seat Tarraco, gasoline engine, with a hefty mileage of about 167,079 km. She's giving me jip with a weak battery when firing up, and my lights are dim and acting all funny. I'm suspecting the issue might be related to an empty emergency call system battery. Had a bit of a rough one with my mechanic last time around. Any of you guys faced something similar before? Any advice for the mechanic visit, or should I try fixing it myself? Thanks a bunch!

Summary of the thread

A 2024 Seat Tarraco owner is experiencing issues with a weak battery and dim, malfunctioning lights. The suspected cause is a discharged emergency call system battery. A similar case was resolved by replacing this battery and checking the alternator to ensure proper charging. The owner plans to consult a mechanic for a professional fix, as the solution appears straightforward and cost-effective.

Hey there! Ran into a similar scenario with my 2022 Seat Ateca not too long ago. Same symptoms - slow starting, dim lights, like yours. Turned out, the issue was indeed with the discharged emergency call system battery. Despite the sounds of it, it wasn't a catastrophic issue at all. The mechanic simply replaced the battery and ran some tests to make sure everything was connected and functioning properly afterwards. Also, they checked my alternator just to rule out the possibility of it not charging the battery properly. Attempting to fix this on your own depends entirely on how comfortable you're under the hood. Getting to the emergency battery can be a bit tricky in these models. If you decide to go with a mechanic, just give them the picture of what's happening and mention my similar case. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Hey, cheers for the heads up! Much appreciated. I reckon I'll just hand it over to the pros this time. I'm curious though, do you remember how much it set you back to get it fixed? Also, has anything else cropped up since then, or was replacing the battery the end of it?

Hey there! You're welcome, happy to help. The mechanics sorted it out for me for around 110 Euro, a fair shake if you ask me considering the headache it caused. Since they fixed the emergency call system battery, not a cheeky blip shown up. Looks like tackling the battery problem was the key to sort out the dim lights and slow start. You're in good hands with the pros. Best of luck with the fix!

Appreciate it! Just what I needed to hear. Will get her over to the mechanic shop first thing in the morning and hopefully, it's the same simple fix. A quick €110 to sort it all out seems like a pretty good deal to me, considering the fretting it's caused. Thanks a ton for sharing your experience and your advice! You've been a real lifesaver. Cheers!
