Seeking Advice on Engine Issue with 2013 Dacia Lodgy: Possible Coding Problem?

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I'm dealing with a weird issue with my 2013 Dacia Lodgy gas engine. The check engine light is on, the engine is cutting out on its own, it won't start, and I even found a fault stored in the system. My initial thoughts are that there could be an issue with the coding. Just curious if any of you have run into a similar issue before and how you got it fixed at your local workshop. Would love to hear about your experience or any advice you may have for me to get this sorted. Cheers!

Hey! I get your struggle. Had a pretty similar issue on my 2011 Dacia Duster two years back. Now, I'm no mechanic, just a car guy with some experience tinkering around. The issue had to do with a faulty third-party chip tuning. Took my Duster to my local workshop, was a sour moment. The chaps there were good, they reprogrammed the ECU, cost was about 180 Euro when they were done with it. Not pretty, but it sorted out the problem. Sounds like yours might be the same thing. But it'd help a lot if you could share more about the actual condition of your Lodgy? Mileage, recent repairs, kinda thing. Then we can drill down into this. Good luck!

Hey, cheers for the response. Some useful insight about the potential ECU issue. My Lodgy's clocking in at 74927 KM now. The last service was done a couple of months back - just the standard stuff, nothing major. No changes to the system or additional tuning chips installed. I'll definitely bring up the possibility of a faulty ECU when I take it to the shop. Crossing fingers it's not gonna punch a big hole in my wallet. Thanks again!

No worries! Hmm, seeing the mileage and the fact you've had no mods or chips, it might not be the same ECU problem I faced. With that mileage and considering your standard maintenance, I think it could be something simpler like a crankshaft position sensor, or even just a fuel pump related issue. Still, don't rule out the ECU completely until the professionals have had a look. Obviously, I'm just spitballing here based on my past experience with my Dacia. Just a heads-up, if it is a sensor, those are usually cheaper to replace than having to reprogram the ECU. You may also want to check your battery and alternator, they could cause similar symptoms. Let me know what you find out, always good to learn something new. All the best in getting this sorted!

Hey there! Your advice's been really helpful, especially the alternatives regarding the crankshaft position sensor, fuel pump, battery, and alternator. Good to have a range of possible issues and potential costs to consider. You're right, I don't want to jump to ECU conclusions without the pros taking a look. I'll definitely pass along all of these suggestions when I visit the workshop and let you know about the final diagnosis! Appreciate the insight and for taking the time to help out. Cheers!
