Seeking Advice on Engine Issues and Possible Oil Contamination in 2022 Renault Arkana
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Renault Arkana owner is experiencing engine issues, including warning lights, overheating, strange noises, and metal shavings in the oil, suspecting oil contamination as the cause. A fellow car owner suggests a defective oil pump might be the issue, based on a similar experience with a different Renault model. The owner plans to visit a garage for diagnostics, hoping the problem is limited to the oil pump to avoid high repair costs.

Hey, appreciate the quick response! You know, it might just be the oil pump. I haven't had any similar issues before and there's been no modifications on the vehicle. I usually get my oil changed every 10-15k kilometers. I did put quite a lot of kilometers on the ride though, sitting at 165117 km right now and just had my last service. Again, thanks for the heads up! I'll take it into a garage and see if they can confirm your theory. Fingers crossed, it won't break the bank. Cheers!

Hi again! Sounds like you've been sticking to a decent maintenance schedule with regular oil changes which is good. High mileage though, no doubt about it! I’ve also clocked up quite a few kilometers on my Renault Captur, so I know what it feels like. In terms of cost, unfortunately, it can be a bit of a hit. In my case, it was those 625 euro, but keep in mind, labor costs can vary significantly depending on where you are and which garage you go to. And of course, the definitive diagnosis might uncover more damages which could further increase the cost. In any case, I really hope it's nothing too serious and your Renault Arkana weathers this storm without too much damage to your wallet. Do keep us updated. Best of luck, and fingers crossed for you! Cheers!

Hey, Thanks a ton for the detailed response. It’s a relief to talk to someone who has gone through something similar. Your advice is pretty reassuring. I've booked the first available slot at my preferred garage and I’m hoping it's the oil pump and nothing more serious. About the cost, yeah – I’ve steeled myself for this one. Hopefully, it won't get too expensive, especially if it's just the oil pump. As they say, hope for the best, prepare for the worst, right? Anyway, I'll keep y'all updated on how the whole thing turns out. Thanks again for all the help! Cheers!

Hey there, I'm not much of an expert but have dealt with a similar issue on my own vehicle, a 2020 Renault Captur. From what I understand, there could potentially be a component defect that's causing this issue. In my case, I took the car to my local workshop. The mechanic ran some diagnostic tests and identified the problem. Turned out, my oil pump was defective and was the root of the problem. I ended up paying around 625 euro to get it replaced. I know, not pocket change, but definitely worth it for peace of mind. But, it'd help to know more about your car's history - like how often you change oil or if there are any modifications made. Also, has your Arkana faced any similar issues before? The more info you can provide, the better we can get to the bottom of this. Hope this helps somewhat! Good luck!
