Hey there! Thanks for the response. You know the way it goes, it is starting to show its age, runs fine otherwise, but these issues have recently given me some sleepless nights. The latest service was last year. Apart from regular maintenance, nothing major was reported. I do have regular oil changes and the mileage on the beast is 102387 KM. I guess it's probably time to take it in for a check again... Cheers for your help!

Hey! I totally feel you on the sleepless nights - car troubles can sure be a headache. With that sort of mileage, some issues here and there are normal. But before you go in for a check, there are a few things you could consider based on what I went through. First, that weird engine noise coupled with other symptoms could be caused by a failing engine component. Metal shavings in the oil? Well, that might mean there's significant wear happening somewhere inside, maybe as your engine oil breaks down or if contaminants are causing excess friction. Clearly not a situation you'd like. Secondly, if the oil light is on, your engine might be lacking sufficient lubrication. This could heighten the wear and tear, and possibly lead to overheating. Lastly, the check engine light, well, it could mean almost anything. But, considering the other signs you've mentioned, it could be signalling engine damage. Anyway, with your car's situation, a check-up would surely be a wise move. It might be a simple oil change or a need for a minor repair but also could be something more serious. Let’s hope it’s the former! But whatever it is, getting it fixed sooner would probably be cheaper than trying to fix it when the damages have gone worse. Good luck, and let me know how it goes!

Hey bud, really appreciate all the insights and advice you've given me, it's been super helpful. Like you said, cars can be a real piece of work sometimes, but gotta love 'em, right? You mentioned some stuff that I hadn't even thought about, so I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'm scheduling a check-up as we speak, hopefully it's not anything overly serious. You're right about dealing with issues sooner rather than later – no point waiting for the engine to fall out before taking action, hah! Thanks again for everything will keep you posted on how it all goes. Cheers!

Hey there! Can definitely relate as I had a similar problem with my 2004 Kia Sorento, basically a close cousin of your Ceed. My level of car expertise I would say is somewhat intermediate, I know a thing or two but I'm no mechanic. Around last year, my check engine light came on and I found metal shavings in the oil too, which freaked me out - just like you. Took it to my favorite local workshop, they ran a series of checks and concluded that a crucial engine component (possibly similar to your situation) was defective. The damage was 625€ to fix it, not what I call pocket change, but at least the ol' girl is running smooth again. However, to be able to share any decent advice, I'd really need to know a few more details about your car’s current state. How's it running overall, other than the symptoms you mentioned? What about your car's service history? Knowing a bit more could be really helpful. Cheers!
