Seeking Advice: 2010 Lexus LFA Experiencing Engine Power Loss and Unsteady Operation - Possible Ventilation System Issue?

Hey, been having a bit of a tricky situation with my 2010 Lexus LFA that runs on petrol. The beast ain't purring as she used to. I've noticed the check engine light's turned on and there's a loss of engine power. The engine isn't steady, kinda jerks during acceleration, stalls and shakes while idling. It's really not the smooth ride she was before. My hunch is that there might be an issue with the tank ventilation system but I'm no expert. Any of you guys faced something similar? Would really appreciate any tips for troubleshooting this or sharing your experiences of getting this fixed up at a workshop. Cheers in advance!

Hey, had a quite similar issue with my 2008 Lexus IS F a while back. First off, my level of car expertise is some experience. Noticed the jerks and stalling with mine too and it turned out to be an issue with the hoses. Took my Lexus to my trusty local workshop. The lads there told me the hoses needed to be added, some were worn out so I got that done. Cost me a cool 175€ all said and done, might be a good starting point for you. Just out of interest, when was the last time you had any work done to your ride or had the hoses checked? It might help me share more insights for you. Keep me posted on the progress happy to help further if need be!

Hey! I haven't had a thorough check on the hoses but reckon it's about time considering I've clocked 107,957 KM on this beauty. The last servicing was some months ago. They tinkered around with the engine tuning but nothing extensively on the hoses. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll definitely look into getting the hoses checked out. If that's the culprit, 175€ doesn't sound too painful for getting my baby up and running again. I'll update you on what happens next. Much appreciated!

Spot on! Given the mileage and the last service, it definitely wouldn't hurt to get those hoses checked. I'd suggest asking your garage to give the entire ventilation system a once-over while they're at it, just to be on the safe side. Do remember there are other factors to consider as well when you've got the whole combo of jerking, stalling, and lost power - like dirty fuel injectors, failing spark plugs, even the fuel pump could be acting up. The engine light being on suggests there's definitely some sort of fault that needs sorting. I brought my ride to the shop thinking it was my tank ventilation system too initially, ended up being the dang hoses. Goes to show, can be a bit of trial and error sometimes. But fingers crossed on yours being a simple fix like mine was! Looking forward to hearing back on how it all pans out. Chin up we'll get your big cat purring smooth again!

Hey there, your advice sounds spot on. I'll be sure to tell the workshop guys to give the ventilation system and the hoses a thorough check. And your mention about other factors is duly noted, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not just a single issue given how the ride is behaving. Can't thank you enough for all the tips. I'm raring to go to get this settled and have the smooth purr of my beast back again. Will keep you posted how it all turns out. Cheers for everything! You've been a real help!
