Seicento Airbag Warning Lamp Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Fiat Seicento owner faced an issue with the airbag warning lamp lighting up, suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a faulty crash sensor connection. It was suggested to check the crash sensor connections, which are typically located under the driver's seat or near the front of the car. The issue was resolved by a workshop cleaning and securing the sensor connection, eliminating the warning light.

Interesting, thanks for the hint! Where exactly are the crash sensors located in the Seicento? Are there multiple sensors, and is there any way to test them without specialized equipment?

In the Peugeot, it was under the driver's seat, but in your Fiat Seicento they may also be located near the front of the car, behind the bumper, or in the center console. Unfortunately, without proper diagnostic tools, it's tricky to pinpoint the exact sensor at fault, like trying to find a needle in a haystack without a magnet. I'd advise a workshop visit; they can read the error codes and pinpoint the defective component efficiently, like using a stethoscope to find the heart murmur. It's usually cheaper in the long run.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were right, faulty crash sensor connection. They cleaned the contacts and secured the plug. Cost me 95€, but the airbag light is gone!

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old 2008 Peugeot 207. Airbag light constantly on. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty crash sensor under the driver's seat. The connection was corroded. Have you checked the crash sensor connections in your Seicento? It's often the simplest things that cause these airbag faults, like a loose connector acting like a leaky pipe in your central heating.
