Seicento damping adjustment error

Alright, so my 2004 Fiat Seicento, gasoline engine, has developed a rather annoying issue. Only 25135 km on the clock, and the damping adjustment is throwing a fit. I've got an error stored in the memory, a warning light mocking me from the speedometer, and the ride's bumpier than a dirt road. Cable or plug connection seems to be the culprit, according to some poking around I did. Anyone else run into this? What am I even supposed to do?

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Fiat Seicento with low mileage developed a damping adjustment error, indicated by a warning light and a bumpy ride. The issue was suspected to be related to cable or plug connections. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by addressing corroded connections to the dampers. The suggested solution was to inspect and clean these connections or consult a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair. The problem was ultimately resolved by fixing a corroded connector, restoring the ride quality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

A bumpy ride and damping errors? Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 207. Same symptoms: error light, rough ride, the works. Did you check the connections and wiring to the dampers themselves? Are they corroded? Sometimes it's just a matter of cleaning them up and making sure they're properly seated. Have you looked at the fuses?

Corroded connections, eh? I hadn't thought about that specifically. You think that could really be it? Where exactly should I be looking, since you had a similar problem? What am I even looking for?

Yeah, on my Peugeot, it turned out to be corrosion on one of the connectors to the front strut. It was causing intermittent communication with the damping control module. Honestly, unless you're really comfortable poking around with electrical stuff, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of headache. Plus, if the error is stored, they can read it properly.

Alright, cheers for the insight. Ended up taking it to the shop; you were spot on about the corroded connector. 95€ later, the light's gone, and the ride's smooth again. Not bad, I guess.
