Seicento starting problem
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Fiat Seicento is experiencing starting problems, stalling at idle, a check engine light, rough running, and excessive fuel consumption. The initial suspicion was a faulty fuel pump or a bad connection. After further investigation, it was found that the issue was due to defective cables and plugs, which were confirmed and repaired by a workshop for 95€.

Fuel filter is new, changed it last service. No recent work either. You think it's definitely the pump itself, or could it still be a wiring issue? I'm trying to avoid replacing the whole thing if it's just a loose wire.

Well, in my Astra's case, it ended up being the pump itself after all. Though a faulty connection can cause similar symptoms. Honestly, it's tough to say without proper testing. Best bet is probably getting it checked out by a workshop. They can properly diagnose it.

Appreciate the input. I've checked the cable and plug, and they were defective. Workshop confirmed it. 95€ repair. Thanks!

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my old Opel Astra, though it was a diesel. Engine light, stalling... Drove me nuts. Did you check the fuel filter? Could be clogged and starving the pump. Also, any recent work done on the fuel system?
