Summary of the thread
A 2002 Fiat Seicento is experiencing issues with a weak battery and flickering lights during starting. The battery voltage appears normal when off but drops significantly during startup, suggesting a potential problem. A defective battery sensor is suspected as the cause. A workshop diagnostic confirmed the issue, and the battery sensor was repaired.

When you say 'proper battery testing,' what do you mean beyond measuring the voltage with a multimeter? What tests or readings showed the faulty voltage sensor in your Renault?

Yeah, the garage ran a load test on the battery, checked the charging system output, and specifically looked at the sensor's readings under different conditions. Confirmed it was the sensor messing things up. Honestly, I'd just take it to a workshop; they'll diagnose it properly.

Based on your experience, I will take the car to a workshop for a diagnostic assessment. It seems a defective battery sensor is the most probable cause. The problem was indeed the battery sensor. The repair cost was 315€ including parts and labour.

Hey, I had similar issues with my old Renault Clio. Lights dimming, struggling to start. Turned out to be a dodgy voltage sensor. Have you tried a proper battery testing to rule out other causes?
