Sequoia Overheating

My 2015 Toyota Sequoia with a gasoline engine is overheating and taking forever to reach operating temp at 128718 km. Suspect it's the map-controlled thermostat. Anyone else seen this?

I had similar overheating issues on my Sequoia. Check your thermostat housing for any signs of leakage or corrosion. Was the cooling fan running constantly, or not at all?

Didn't notice leakage. But the fan... hmmm. When you had the issue, was the thermostat stuck open? My OBD reader is throwing a P0128 code, and I'm starting to think the ECT sensor is the culprit.

Yeah, my thermostat was indeed stuck open. I tried bleeding the system, but it did not work. I didn't want to risk further damage, so I took it to a workshop. That's what I would suggest.

Appreciate the insight! Confirmed with the shop – defective thermostat cooling circuit motor, just like we thought. Quoted 350€ for the repair. Thanks for steering me in the right direction!
