Serena ABS Fault

I've got a 2005 Nissan Serena with a gasoline engine and I'm running into a weird ABS issue. The ABS lamp is constantly lit, and it feels like the whole ABS system is just dead. Did a quick diagnostic scan and it's throwing a 'lateral acceleration sensor fault'. Any ideas?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happen in my Serena. Is your vehicle stability also affected? I remember the error code pointing to a faulty control unit, which messed with the yaw rate and vehicle stability quite a bit. Have you checked your wheel alignment recently?

Vehicle stability does seem a bit off now that you mention it. I haven't checked the wheel alignment, no. Was it definitely the control unit in your case then?

Yep, pretty sure it was the control unit throwing everything off. The diagnostic scan kept pointing to the lateral acceleration sensor, which led us to the defective control unit. Honestly, after all the messing around and trying to figure it out myself, I just took it to a workshop and they sorted it. But yeah, sounds super similar to what I went through.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I'm headed to the workshop too then. Just got the repair bill and it came to around 1000€ - ouch! Hopefully that'll sort everything out.
