Serena Bypass Valve Error
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Nissan Serena hybrid owner experienced an error message and engine overheating, with a local garage identifying a bypass valve malfunction. The issue was suspected to be a secondary problem caused by another fault. After further investigation at a Nissan dealership, the root cause was identified as a faulty sensor, which was replaced under warranty, resolving the bypass valve error.

The temperature gauge does climb faster than usual, yes. Fuel efficiency also seems a bit worse. What was it in your case, and what did you do about it?

Yep, sounds like the same thing. In my case, the bypass valve error was triggered by another issue. I'd suggest getting a proper diagnostic check at a workshop. They should be able to pinpoint the main culprit.

Thanks for the info! I took it to a Nissan place as you suggested, and it turned out to be a faulty sensor causing all the problems. They replaced it, and the bypass valve error is gone. Cost me nothing in the end as it was still under warranty!

I drive a Serena too, and I had a similar issue last year. Does the temperature gauge go up quickly? Has your fuel efficiency changed?
