Siena Air Flap Fault Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Fiat Siena with a diesel engine is experiencing a check engine light and overheating issues, with a diagnostic scan indicating an active air flap fault. The problem is suspected to be a defective electromechanism in the air intake. Replacing the flap motor has been suggested as a solution, as it resolved similar issues for another owner. Taking the car to a workshop for further inspection and repair is recommended to prevent potential overheating damage.

Thanks! Fuel economy seems normal so far, but the overheating is concerning. When you had the air flap fault, was it definitely the flap motor, or could it have been something else?

Pretty sure it was the flap motor. Diagnostic pointed to it, and replacing it fixed the issue. Honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, I'd bet on the electromechanism. You should take it to a workshop, maybe?

Okay, thanks. I appreciate the advice; I'll get it checked out at a workshop then. Sounds like the air flap electromechanism is the most likely culprit, and given the potential for overheating, I don't want to risk it. The quote I got was around 590€, so hopefully, that sorts it.

Hey, I have a Siena too. Sounds like you've got the same problem I had a while back. Is it affecting your fuel economy too, or just the light and the temperature?
