Siena Check Engine Light VANOS Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Fiat Siena owner is experiencing a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, suspecting a VANOS system issue, possibly a faulty solenoid. Another Siena owner with similar symptoms confirmed that the problem was due to faulty inlet VANOS mechanics, specifically the solenoid valves. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle checked at a workshop, where it was confirmed that a camshaft solenoid valve was indeed faulty, leading to a repair.

Misfire, not really. It feels mostly fine, just the light and the mileage. What did it end up being in your case? Was it the VANOS solenoid or something else?

Yep, same for me! It turned out the inlet VANOS mechanics were faulty. The problem was in the solenoid valves. I'd suggest you take it to a workshop to get it checked properly. Could be a defect in the VANOS solenoid valves or power supply not available.

Thanks! I appreciate the insight. I'll take it to the workshop, I suspected VANOS. Turns out that one of the camshaft solenoid valves was faulty. Repair cost 250€.

Sounds familiar! I also drive a Siena, and had similar symptoms a while back. Check Engine Light and the fuel consumption drove me nuts. Have you felt any engine misfire too?
