Silverado Overheating Electric Fan Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Chevrolet Silverado was experiencing overheating issues, suspected to be due to a malfunctioning electric fan. The initial thought was a bad cable or plug to the fan motor. After further discussion, it was suggested to check both the fan clutch and electrical connections. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a bad electrical connection to the fan, which was resolved at a workshop, restoring the engine's performance.

Thanks, can you explain how the fan clutch and electric system are related? I thought the electric fan was only controlled by the electric motor and not connected to other cooling parts.

The electric fan should kick in when the engine gets too hot, no matter how the mechanical fan is working. You've checked the electrics already, but with the overheating and possible electric fan issue, a workshop visit might be a good idea. It could be a few things causing the problem.

Thanks for the thorough explanation. I took it to a workshop, and you were right. It was a bad electrical connection to the fan. Cost me 95€. The engine runs great now!

I had something similar with my Silverado. Overheating is the worst. Did you check the fan clutch along with the electrical connections? Sometimes the clutch fails, and the fan won't engage even if the electric motor is getting power.
