Silverado rough running and intake codes

Alright, I'm officially pulling my hair out. I've got a 2009 Chevy Silverado diesel, and lately it's been running rough as guts. At 149813 km. the check engine light is on constantly, and it's throwing all sorts of codes related to the intake. I'm getting jerking when accelerating, the engine power is noticeably reduced, and sometimes it even stalls at idle. Plus, there's a REALLY strong exhaust smell that wasn't there before. Anyone else seen anything like this? I'm thinking maybe a gasket leak in the intake manifold or a faulty manifold sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Chevy Silverado diesel is experiencing rough running, constant check engine light, jerking during acceleration, reduced engine power, stalling at idle, and a strong exhaust smell. The issues are linked to intake-related codes, suggesting a possible gasket leak in the intake manifold or a faulty manifold sensor. A similar case revealed scorching causing leakage in the intake manifold, and professional diagnosis confirmed the manifold was leaking, leading to a repair that resolved the problem.

I had a similar issue with my Silverado. Symptoms sound very familiar, especially the reduced power and rough idle. Have you checked for any signs of a vacuum leak around the intake? Any hissing noises?

Yeah, I did a quick visual check, but didn't spot anything obvious. I don't have a smoke tester or anything like that. Where exactly did you find the leak, and was it hard to diagnose?

In my case, it turned out to be a scorching issue causing leakage in the intake manifold itself. Given the age of your truck and the symptoms you're describing, I'd recommend having a professional take a look. A proper diagnosis will save you time and potential headaches.

Thanks for the advice! Took her to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the intake manifold was leaking like crazy. The scorching you mentioned was the culprit. Ended up costing me 1180€ to get it all sorted, but at least she's running smooth again.
