Skoda Citigo battery issues

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2013 Skoda Citigo with a gasoline engine. It has around 235211 km on it. Lately, the battery seems weak when starting, and the lights sometimes flicker. Could it be a defective battery sensor? I've heard that can cause low voltage and affect the battery charge. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Citigo. Weak battery, flickering lights... Could be a faulty battery sensor. Have you checked the battery voltage when the engine is running? What's the battery health showing?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the battery voltage while the engine is running, but I did check when it was off, and it seemed a bit low. You really think it's the battery sensor specifically? What were your symptoms exactly?

Yep, sounds like the battery sensor to me. My lights were flickering like crazy, especially at idle. The battery voltage was all over the place. Eventually, the car struggled to start. If the battery voltage is low even after a good charge, and you're seeing those symptoms, it's very likely the sensor. I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop. They can confirm it with a diagnostic tool.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! It was indeed the battery sensor. They replaced it, and the low voltage issues are gone. Total cost was around 315€. Thanks a lot for your help!
