Thanks for the quick reply. Where is the brake switch located, and how can I check it? Is it something I can do myself, or do I need special tools?

The brake switch is usually near the handbrake lever or the brake pedal. Honestly, with brake control systems, I'd suggest getting it checked professionally. Brake failure isn't something to take lightly. It might be worth getting a diagnostic check to pinpoint the exact issue before you start replacing parts.

Thank you for your advice. I took the car to a certified workshop, and they confirmed that the electric motor in the brake calliper was indeed defective. They replaced it, and now the electronic parking brake is working correctly again. The total repair cost was 505€.

I had a similar issue with my Renault Megane. The electronic parking brake just stopped working. Have you checked the brake switch? Sometimes a system glitch can cause a false error message. It might be a simple fix before you assume the worst.
