Skoda Citigo immobilizer problem

My 2013 Skoda Citigo with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. The engine either doesn't start at all, or starts briefly and then cuts out. Error memory shows an immobilizer problem. I suspect it's something to do with the key programming, maybe a glitch with the remote start system?

Sounds like a car immobilizer issue! I had something similar with my old Renault Megane. The engine would start and then immediately die. Is the security light flashing on your dash? It could be a problem with the anti-theft system or car electronics.

The security light does flash. What exactly did you do to fix it on your Renault?

I didn't fix it myself on the Renault. It needed a proper diagnostic and reprogramming. It's likely an issue with the car electronics recognizing the key. I'd advise taking it to a workshop that can handle these anti-theft system problems.

Turns out the key needed a quick reprogramming. The security light was a good clue. Sorted now for 45€, thanks for the advice!
