Skoda Citigo P0087 Fuel Rail System Pressure Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2017 Skoda Citigo with a gasoline engine. The check engine light's on, and it's throwing a P0087 code – Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low. Symptoms include engine misfire, stalling at idle, and a definite reduction in engine power. I suspect the fuel volume regulator is faulty, possibly due to a defective high pressure pump. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary car maintenance expenditure. I have noticed worsening fuel economy as well as rough idling.

I had something similar happen with my Citigo, though I don't remember the exact codes. The engine was sputtering, and the fuel economy tanked. Have you checked the fuel filter? Could be a simple fix before you start tearing into the high-pressure system.

Fuel filter's been replaced recently, so I'm ruling that out for now. When you say 'similar', did you also experience stalling at idle and a noticeable loss of power? Also, did your diagnostic tool point towards fuel starvation or a specific component failure?

Yeah, the stalling and power loss were definitely there. I was getting engine misfire codes too. Honestly, I'm not mechanically inclined enough to diagnose it properly myself. I just took it straight to my local garage. They ran some tests and confirmed it was something to do with the fuel system. Best of luck with your automotive repair.

Took it to the shop. High pressure fuel pump was indeed the problem, as suspected. Replaced it, and the fuel volume regulator too. Cost 1510€, but at least it's running smoothly again. Thanks for the insight!
