Skoda Citigo performance issues

Alright, so my 2013 Skoda Citigo with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. It's done 160011 km. Starting is poor, fuel consumption is noticeably higher, engine power feels reduced, and the idling is rough; sometimes, it even stalls. I suspect a defective injection nozzle – probably just clogging, given the symptoms. Anyone experienced similar performance issues?

Hey, that sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Citigo, though I didn't check the fuel consumption, but the engine stalled at idle sometimes and the idling was definitely uneven. Have you checked the injectors themselves? Maybe they just need a clean? It could be diesel contamination if you accidentally filled up with the wrong fuel, but that's rare with a gasoline engine.

Interesting. When you say similar, how similar? And did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a garage? What exactly did you check on the injectors, any specific procedure?

Yeah, pretty much the same symptoms, especially the uneven idling and stalling. I'm no expert, so I didn't mess with it myself. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed one of the injectors was faulty. I didn't bother with cleaning; I just went straight for replacement. Best to get it checked properly, could save you money in the long run.

Right, thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out one of the gasoline injection nozzles was defective due to clogging. They replaced it, cost me 515€, but the car runs like new again. Much appreciated!
