Skoda Fabia Diesel Engine Problem

My 2002 Skoda Fabia diesel is throwing a fit. Check engine light's on, feels like I'm towing a boat anchor, and the fuel consumption is insane. Mileage is only 43928 km. Pretty sure it's a faulty manifold pressure sensor. Anyone else had this? Reduced engine power and poor engine response points to a bad MAP sensor, possibly due to a large vacuum leakage.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Fabia: check engine light, power loss. Could be the MAP sensor. Have you checked for any obvious vacuum leaks around the intake manifold?

Vacuum leaks? Where exactly should I be looking? Any specific areas on the intake manifold that are prone to leaking?

Inspect around where the intake manifold connects to the engine block. Also, check the vacuum lines connected to the manifold sensor itself. If you aren't comfortable poking around, a workshop can diagnose it pretty quickly. Sensor failure is common, and a vacuum leak will mess with the sensor readings.

It was the manifold pressure sensor. Replacement cost 235€. Runs like new now. Thanks for the insight!
