Skoda Fabia Driver Side Mirror Heating Failure

My 2003 Skoda Fabia with a diesel engine has a problem. The driver's side car mirror heating isn't working. The error memory shows a defect in the mirror heating circuit, probably a cable or plug connection. The car has 143443 km. Has anyone had this? I'm worried about a costly mirror replacement and the temperature control, especially with the cold weather. What can I test before a workshop visit, which will probably be around 95€?

Mirror heating problems are annoying, especially in cold weather. Since the error code indicates a cable or plug issue, check the connections to the car mirror. Are you able to inspect the wiring harness that connects to the rearview mirror? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection is the cause. Is it both mirrors, or just one?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have some car repair experience, but I'm unsure where the wiring harness for the car mirror is and how to access it without damage. Can you guide me on checking the connections? Only one side is affected.

Since only one side is affected, a localized wiring or connection issue is likely. Without specific knowledge of the Fabia's wiring and your comfort with electrical testing, detailed instructions could cause complications. A workshop might be best at this point.

I wanted to close the loop on the defective car mirror heating on my Skoda Fabia. Following the suggestion, I took the car to a workshop. They confirmed the defective plug connection was the cause. The repair was 95€, as estimated. Thanks for the advice.
