Skoda Fabia Gear Selection Issue

Interesting. When you say 'wiring harness', do you mean the actual plug that goes into the clutch switch, or further back along the cable? I had a quick look, but didn't see anything obviously broken or disconnected. Was it difficult to diagnose in your case?

By wiring harness, I was referring primarily to the plug connection directly at the clutch switch itself. In my case, the diagnostic procedure involved systematically testing the continuity of the wires leading to the switch. While a visual inspection can sometimes reveal obvious damage, intermittent faults can be more challenging to pinpoint. Given the symptoms you describe, and the error code you mentioned, it is plausible that the switch is indeed the source of the issue. If you lack specialized diagnostic tools, it might be prudent to consult a qualified technician to avoid potential complications.

Took the Fabia to a local garage, and they confirmed it was indeed the clutch pedal switch. The cable was faulty, just like you suspected. They replaced it, and the total cost was 95€. Everything's working fine now; the car is starting without issues, the gear selector display is back, and cruise control works again. Thanks for your help!

I have a Skoda Fabia as well, though I am uncertain about the model year. I encountered a somewhat analogous issue recently. My cruise control was inoperative, and the gear selector display in the speedometer was also malfunctioning. Initially, I suspected a fault within the engine control unit. However, after a diagnostic check, the error log indicated a faulty clutch switch. Could you perhaps verify the integrity of the wiring harness connected to the switch? A loose or corroded connection might be the source of your problem.
