Skoda Fabia Power Steering Problem

I'm freaking out about my Skoda Fabia build year 2012 with a Diesel engine. The power steering is acting up. The steering wheel vibrates, the handling feels spongy, and sometimes the power steering fails making it hard to turn the wheel. There's an error stored. I've read that it could be a defective cable or plug. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm trying to avoid replacing the whole steering pump or messing with pressure hoses if it's just a loose wire.

Whoa, sounds nasty. I had something similar with my Fabia. The steering felt weird. Is the hydraulic fluid level okay? I'm no expert, but maybe check that first.

Yep, vibrating steering wheel. I didn't get a light on the dash though. It was a while ago so I don't remember all the details. But if you are getting errors and struggling to turn the steering wheel, I'd get it checked out. Could be a steering pump issue or something more serious.

Interesting. When you say 'weird', do you mean like vibrating steering wheel and needing extra effort to turn it? And did you also get an error light? I did check the hydraulic fluid, and it seems fine, but maybe I missed something?

Just wanted to say you were right. I took it to a local garage, and it was a bad connector on the steering pump. They cleaned it and re-seated it. It's working perfectly now. The whole thing was 95€, which is a relief. Thanks again.
