Skoda Kamiq car heating issue

Alright, so my 2023 Skoda Kamiq with a diesel engine is playing up. Mileage is at 192058 km. The car heating is barely working - it's just lukewarm at best. Plugged it into a diagnostic tool and it's throwing up an error related to the water valve. The error message suggests it might be a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone else had this issue? Is there something simple I can check before taking it to a garage?

I experienced something similar with my Skoda Kamiq (though mine is petrol). The car heating became practically useless, especially on shorter trips. Have you checked the engine coolant level? A low coolant level can definitely cause insufficient car heating. Also, is the engine overheating at all? Overheating and poor car heating can sometimes be related. It might be worth checking the automotive valve that regulates coolant flow, as a faulty car valve could restrict the flow of engine coolant to the heater core. Does the temperature gauge on your dash fluctuate wildly?

Engine coolant is fine, and no engine overheating issues. You mentioned the car valve - is that difficult to get to and test myself, or is it a workshop job? I'm not really clued up when it comes to car mechanics...

Based on your description, especially the error code pointing to the water valve and the potential cable issue, I would strongly recommend taking it to a workshop. While you could try to locate and inspect the cable and plug yourself, the water valve is often in a somewhat inaccessible location. Given the relatively low repair cost (95€), it's likely a much simpler job for a professional with the right tools and experience. It sounds like you have similar symptoms, so I would expect a defective water valve.

Big thanks for confirming! Took it to the workshop and they found it was indeed the water valve. Turns out a dodgy connector was the culprit, just like the error memory hinted at. 95€ later and the car heating is working perfectly again. Appreciate the help!
