Skoda Kamiq cooling system issue

I am writing to seek wisdom regarding a perplexing issue I am experiencing with my Skoda Kamiq, built in 2023, diesel engine, with approximately 135196 km on the odometer. The vehicle is displaying an error related to the temperature sensor within the heat exchanger. Concurrently, an error message is present in the speedometer, and the air conditioning system refuses to engage. Preliminary diagnostics suggest a potentially defective air conditioning control unit. Is this a common occurrence, and what could be the likely underlying cause? Has anyone else encountered a similar predicament with their vehicle maintenance? The cooling system is clearly compromised. The error stored in the error memory also points to the heat exchanger. Any insights into this engine cooling conundrum would be greatly appreciated.

That's quite frustrating! It sounds remarkably similar to an issue I encountered with my previous vehicle, a Renault Megane, although it was a petrol engine. The symptoms you describe - error messages, non-functional air conditioning - were almost identical. Did you check the pressure in the cooling system? In my case, the defective heat exchanger caused the entire HVAC system to shut down as a safety measure. Could this be the same in your Skoda?

That is quite insightful. I must admit, I did not delve into the cooling system pressure specifically. Was the repair straightforward in your case, or did you experience any unforeseen complications? Did you also have to replace additional components beyond the heat exchanger itself?

Indeed, it was a rather involved repair. The heat exchanger failure, in my case, stressed the AC compressor which eventually gave out. So yes, I had to replace both. If your workshop suspects the control unit, it's best to heed their advice. Modern vehicles often link multiple systems. It's a frustrating situation, I know, but sometimes it's unavoidable. I would strongly recommend going to a workshop to avoid further damage.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It seems I am facing a similar predicament. I have taken the Kamiq to the workshop, and they have confirmed the temperature sensor within the heat exchanger is indeed defective, which in turn seems to have damaged the air conditioning control unit. The estimated repair cost is approximately 980€. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue and restore the cooling system to proper functionality.
