Purge valve, eh? Where exactly would I find that? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off just taking it to a mechanic?

Okay, so the purge valve is usually somewhere near the engine, often on top or to the side. It's connected to the intake manifold and the charcoal canister with vacuum lines. You could try disconnecting the vacuum line to the intake manifold and see if the stalling stops. If it does, the purge valve is probably stuck open. But honestly, with the high mileage and the potential for messing things up, it might be worth getting a mechanic to take a look. They'll have the tools to properly diagnose the EVAP system and perform a smoke test for leak detection. It's better than chasing ghosts and potentially causing more damage to your fuel tank.

Cheers for the input! I got it sorted. Turned out to be the charcoal filter as suspected. Cost me 275€ at the workshop, but at least the engine light is off and it's not stalling anymore. What a relief!

Whoa, sounds rough! Check engine lights are never fun. Sounds like you're on the right track with the fuel tank ventilation system. The EVAP system, or evaporative emission control system, is there to stop fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. A leak there can definitely cause those symptoms. Have you checked the purge valve? Sometimes they get stuck open and mess with the air flow. Also, how's the fuel cap? A loose or damaged fuel cap can also trigger the leak detection and throw a code.
