Skoda Kamiq engine issues

I'm having some issues with my 2019 Skoda Kamiq with a gasoline engine. It has about 101211 km on it. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. My fuel consumption has also gone up. I suspect it might be an air intake leak. Could a leaking intake hose cause these symptoms, maybe even an engine misfire?

That sounds very familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Volvo a while back. Check engine light, hissing sound, and terrible fuel economy. It was an air intake leak for me. Have you checked the intake hose for any cracks or damage?

Thanks for the advice. Where exactly should I be looking on the intake hose? Is it easy to spot?

Yes, it should be fairly obvious if you look closely. Follow the air intake from the air filter box to the intake manifold. Feel around the hose for any cracks, especially near the connections. The hissing sound is a good indicator. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, I would advise taking it to a workshop. It's better to be safe.

Just to let you know, you were spot on. I took it to the shop, and it was a leaking intake hose. They replaced it for around 100€. Thanks for the help.
